FRMS software
FRMS software supports the documented processes within a fatigue risk management system (FRMS) — including policy management, risk assessment records, roster analysis, monitoring, and review cycles.
It is a subset of broader fatigue management software, focused on system governance rather than single-purpose roster calculators.
What FRMS software may include
Section titled “What FRMS software may include”- Policy and document control — versioned FRMS documentation
- Risk assessment workflows — templates, approvals, and action tracking
- Roster and FRI analysis — integration with planning data
- Monitoring dashboards — overtime, swaps, fatigue reports, trends
- Audit and review scheduling — management review reminders and records
Implementation notes
Section titled “Implementation notes”Successful FRMS software adoption usually requires:
- Clear ownership — who maintains the system and approves changes
- Alignment with existing safety management processes
- Training for planners, managers, and worker representatives
- Periodic review to ensure the tool reflects live operations
Software can help document and analyse FRMS activity. It does not, by itself, constitute a functioning FRMS.
Sector relevance
Section titled “Sector relevance”FRMS software is commonly evaluated by organisations in rail, aviation, and other safety-critical environments. Requirements differ — a tool suited to one sector may need significant configuration for another.
Cautions
Section titled “Cautions”- No FRMS software is presented here as regulator-approved or infrastructure-owner-endorsed
- Outputs should be reviewed by competent persons before operational decisions
- Assurance depends on people and process — not tooling alone
